Has anyone got a decent Photograph of Mr Tierney?
Prefect   [Oct 11, 2007 at 02:31 PM]
I'm afraid this is the only one I have. Others featured are; Messrs Fuller, Witherspoon, Bence, Moore, Pappin, Smith, Walters, McGillivray.

I thought that Mr Tierney was a great bloke and I still have a hand made Christmas card that Mr Smith gave me. It is amazing how very few of the staff were armpits. I have wonderful memories of the school and staff. Of course, I didn't get much of an education but that was because I was mostly interested in girls and music. And girls.I was at the Portsmouth Technical school for three and a half years and the staff were t*****s to a man.

I remember Mr Tierney and his great approach to life .He was teaching himself piano and had me help him set up the school library

I was taking my girl friend home one night and was passing behind Mr Tierney's home when he came around the corner at a run. I called a greeting and he waved and said 'I can't stop Spike' and then something about an audition. Well I knew he had been learning the piano and was suitably impressed. Later I found that what he had said was 'addition' not 'audition' and Mrs Tierney had had a baby. That baby will be about 51 by now and my hearing hasn't got any better.

The only Tierney offspring recorded so far in the archives is Lorna, ( see pic in Netball Team 62-3 ), but as she did A Levels in 1965, this cant have been her arrival.

I knew that he had a daughter, Lorna, although I never met her. Maybe he locked her away when he knew I was coming round (you think?) On one occasion when I went to the house I was admitted by a very polite small boy so I believe Mr. Tierney had at least three children. Unless he had borrowed the small boy and was using him as a doorman.

I've now discovered a Geraldine Tierney who was in the first year in 1965 so she could have been the new arrival?
MilkMonitor   [Dec 03, 2010 at 01:55 AM]
The polite small boy's name may have been Kevin, but he would have been very young to answer the door? See 1965 Magazine.

Having found her on Facebook, Geraldine is not related to Mr T.
