I believe this is St George's Bay, as that looks like the 'Cresta Quay' club on the other shore.

Thanks, I thought it must be but was puzzled by the lack of buildings in the background. No doubt Paceville hadn't spread that far by then. Its probably TH Swimming Sports - moving.

Did TH, like Verdala, hold their swimming sports at Ricasoli in the 50s and 60s? When I think about that Grand Harbour water .................. ! (Health and Safety would have a fit these days!) (Have I said this before? - I've written it somewhere - Age is my excuse!)
Prefect   [Nov 27, 2011 at 12:33 AM]
You did - here, but we'll make allowances. Wink
I'm not sure when they moved from Ricasoli as I was never invited to take part. Crying or Very sad HMS Ricasoli paid off in 1958 but no doubt the Lido continued?

Naval doctor said while I was in for an ear infection, the waters round here are crystal clear, but it is like swimming in a sewer. How did we ever survive!!

Early exposure strengthens your immune system!

Very true prefect, perhaps it did prepare me for the joys of Indian coasting, Visak, Bombay, Cochin, Panjim, etc. Crying or Very sad

Kids nowadays are so protected from every form of nasty that, as you say, they don't build up any immunity! Sounds as if you were in some murky waters, Phill!
