I don't think that the overflow classrooms in Verdala Barracks (centre of picture) were used after about 1959 when the third Romney hut on the playground (top right) was built.

there were some monkey bars in one part of the field. was it near the entrance or by the palm tree?
Prefect   [Nov 21, 2012 at 10:36 AM]
We need a Verdalan to answer that.

Not sure what monkey bars are! (Bars for the little monkeys to turn somersaults on?!) Don't think there were any bars around in my time (1957-61). When were you there, Noor?

From the 1954 Magazine (Now more legible in text.) - "We have a very extensive playground, a large portion of which is concrete and contains two netball pitches. There is also the ever popular scrambling net and three sets of climbing bars. We are most fortunate In having the use of the football field adjoining the School. This must be the envy of every footballer at Tal Handak. "
