... Why are you so b****y piso? Anyone know the rest of the words to this song? Its sung to the tune of "Return to Sorrento" and is the song of the lonely dhiso owner, forced to sell his last bottle of hopleaf to provide for his family: -
Step inside big eats Commando
Steak egg chips and bacon banjo
Not for me....but for my dhiso
Why are you so b****y piso?

See also Sammy's Bar by Cyril Tawney who was on subs at Msida (HMS Forth). See CYRIL. He left the Navy to spend almost 50 yrs as a singer/guitarist, and wrote "Grey Funnel Lines", a book about naval songs (or those that could be printed anyway).

Not to mention "Kalafrana Here I Come" and "You've Come A Long Way From Siggiewi".

"Getting ashore in Malta was never a problem. There was always a fleet of dghaisas around the ship waiting for custom and the fare ashore from anywhere in the Grand Harbour, legally, was three pence. If, however, the fare was tendered the dghaisa man invariably threw the coins into the bottom of the boat and spat on them, calling down the curse of the gods on the head of the donor. This implied no lasting ill will, as he was always eager and willing to pick you up for a return journey. " Leslie Brownfield 1918
