I think it was the 108th MS which was in Malta from the mid 50s until 1969. Station keeping could be improved. Are these pics from the Times of Malta?

Yes, The Times - the blurb did say the 100th, I think the date must be mid 1961, John

In 1960/61 the Minesweeper Squadron based in Malta was definitely the 108th. I can’t recall all the names of the ships in this squadron, so possibly like many RN ships at the time, perhaps the 100th MS passed through Malta? In 1959 there had been 20 Ton class sweepers present in Malta forming the 104th and 108th Minesweeper Squadrons. In that year and into early 1960, some exchanges took place between the two squadrons and the 104th (12 vessels) departed to Singapore. I was involved in day running trials on some before they left, some under their own power, others by towing. Vessels forming the 108th Squadron bore a Maltese Cross on their funnels, the photo unfortunately not being clear enough to depict whether this feature is present or not?
